Two Chinese military planes crossed into Taiwan's air defence identification zone (ADIZ) on Monday. That was the 24th such encroachment since September 16.

The number of Chinese planes flying into Taiwan's air space in recent weeks is unprecedented. This has come amidst the visit of top US officials to Taiwan and US plans to sell 4 arms packages to Taiwan.

The Ministry of National Defence identified the two planes on Monday as one Y-8 Shaanxi anti-submarine airplane and one Y-8 Shaanxi technical reconnaissance plane.

Taiwan responded by scrambling fighters and broadcasting radio warnings to chase the Chinese planes out of the ADIZ and using an air defence missile system to track the situation.
