US military base in South Korea puts troops on lockdown after false alarm of an 'active shooter'

A U.S. military base in South Korea was put on lockdown after reports of an active shooter, which later turned out to be a false alarm.
The report came in of a possible active shooter at United States Army Garrison-Humphreys, also known as Camp Humphreys, in Gyeonggi-do province, some 40 miles south of Seoul, on Friday afternoon local time.
Military newspaper Stars and Stripes reported that everyone on the base had been ordered inside.

A spokesperson later said it had been confirmed as a false alarm and the base returned to normal.
Camp Humphreys is the U.S. biggest overseas military base and is set to expand even further, to cover nearly 3,500 acres in two years time.
The base is home approximately 28,900 U.S. military soldiers, staff and their families
